scavenger huntParticipate in the National Prevention Week Scavenger Hunt

for a chance to win a $200 Visa gift card!

Better Brodhead, in collaboration with seven businesses in Brodhead, has set up a scavenger hunt that will start on May 10th at 9am and run until May 16th  at 5pm.  This event is free.

Each of the seven businesses will have a poster in their storefront window. The poster will have the Better Brodhead logo and a drug prevention message.

The poster will also have a riddle. Solve the riddle and go into the store. Tell the store clerk the correct answer to the riddle, and they will give you a card with a QR code on it. The QR code will tell you what business to go to next.  Each business will have a poster with a different riddle on it. Solve the riddle, and the store clerk in the business will give you a card.

You should end up with 7 cards after the seventh business.  For the correct answer, the seventh business will give you a treat (for the first 50 people), and the card that they give you will have the QR code that leads you to a form to fill out for the $200 drawing.

Enjoy the hunt!

The starting location for the first poster is Foster’s Gaming.

One lucky winner will be drawn for the $200 Visa gift card.

The drawing will take place on May 17th and the winner will be announced in the newspapers on May 24th.

Red Ribbon Campaign Logo

Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October in the United States since 1985.  Better Brodhead and Albrecht Elementary School are partnering to celebrate this week October 28th-November 1st. Our theme for this year is; “I Believe In Me, Happy, Healthy and Drug Free”.  Each day will have a focus. Monday we will focus on healthy eating  along with having a Police Officer visit each classroom to read a story about friendship.  The book will then be donated to each classroom. Tuesday, healthy lifestyle will be the focus on staying active and healthy.  ednesday, each class will sign a anti-bullying banner. Thursday, we’ll focus on safety just in time for Halloween. Friday, Y2Y will present to the 4th and 5th graders on the dangers of vaping and how to resist.   Please wear red or your Cardinal gear on Friday to celebrate the last day of Red Ribbon Week!

Better Brodhead’s Star Wars Photo Booth at Brodhead Night Out

Brodhead Night Out was amazing this year!!  It was held at Jaycees Park on August 21st from 5-9pm.  Law enforcement had a dunk tank and a number of our enforcement officers got a bit wet.  There was horse painting! Fire and rescue gave rides in the ladder trunk.  There was a climbing wall, a seat belt simulator, giant bubbles, free hot dogs,  and free donuts. Many non-profits were there with educational information and activities for the youth.

Better Brodhead had another photo booth at the event!  This year’s theme was Star Wars.  Youth and adults joined in the fun by dressing up in costumes and having their photos taken in front of our galaxy backdrop.  Check out the photos – you may see some local celebrities!
